Email JeremyReverend Jeremy Smith holds a B.A. in Religion from Oklahoma City University and a Masters of Divinity from Boston University School of Theology. Jeremy has served United Methodist churches in the Oklahoma City and Tulsa areas and came to Checotah in 2009 after three years of pastoring a Boston-area congregation. First Methodist's children and youth ministries are Jeremy's primary responsibilities. Jeremy recognized his call to ministry in his high school youth group, and now has come full circle as he nurtures and guides children, youth, and families on their spiritual walks. Jeremy and his spouse Chelsea are excited to be in Checotah, however, their two cats are completely indifferent.
Kim is a third-generation Checotah native. She holds a degree in Secondary English Education and certification in Education of the Blind and Visually Impaired. She taught Language Arts at the Oklahoma School for the Blind in Muskogee for 17.5 years before moving to California, where she was employed as a Vision Specialist for the Sacramento County Office of Education. She also worked in a self-contained classroom of severely multihandicapped students. After moving back to Oklahoma, she worked as a librarian and a Director of Volunteer Services for a hospice before finding her niche with FUMC. Family, friends, and several rescue dogs with "issues" keep things interesting at home.
